This year, too, the association of small and medium-sized timber companies, MH-Massivholz Austria, organized a one-day professional conference entitled "International Timber Day." For decades, it has been one of the most important events in the Austrian timber industry.
The event took place on September 12, 2025, at the Wörthersee Congress Center in Pörtschach, attended by approximately 250 guests from the forestry, construction, and engineering industries. Business entities from Italy, traditionally the most important market for the Austrian timber industry, were also represented.
The welcoming speech by Markus Schmölzer, President of the Austrian Timber Industry Association, was followed by a series of presentations and panel discussions. In addition to gaining interesting practical insights, representatives of our company appreciated the opportunity to meet our existing and potential customers in person and to intensify or establish mutual cooperation.
The Austrian timber industry comprises more than 1,000 companies. A large portion of these have been family-owned for generations and they represent a broad spectrum of companies, from global leaders to numerous small and medium-sized enterprises. In rural areas of Austria, the sawmill industry employs approximately 10,000 workers, ensuring stability and prosperity in individual regions. It is therefore an indispensable part of the Austrian economy.
