Preserving wooden fixtures at the Trocnov Archaeological Heritage Village

Preserving wooden fixtures at the Trocnov Archaeological Heritage Village

An educational-focused archaeological heritage village is currently being built on the national heritage site commemorating the birthplace of Czech legend Jan Žižka. The wooden structural elements in the village are being preserved using anti-pest impregnation product Bochemit.

This unique village, which stands in a visibly isolated portion of land accessible from the monument itself, is being built by the South Bohemian Museum in České Budějovice. Each building is made using recycled natural materials, traditional technologies and the craftmanship proposed by architect Petr Dostal. The building contractor is S-B s.r.o., based in Sedičany. The project is the brainchild of local professor of folk architecture Jiří Škabrada, who has also conducted the specialist research for the project.
